Claiming
I have recently had an experience in which God impressed on me the need
to claim benefits of His Kingdom for others and myself.
It happened in the time period around late November, 2017. I
walked the short walk home from my workplace for lunch, and arrived
just in time to get a sandwich and turn on the television. The
program which came on without changing channels was The 700 Club,
produced by the Christian Broadcasting Company. It was the last
five minutes of the program in which the hosts ususally pray and give
words of wisdom for viewers, and relate the feedback they get from
viewers whom God has touched through the program.
The host was just reading a letter from a lady who wrote that she had
recently been watching The 700 Club program, and the host had given a
word of wisdom which described in detail the physical malady with which
this lady was suffering. She then wrote that "as soon as I said
to myself 'I claim that for me' the power of God touched my body and I
was healed of (the malady)."
I was struck by the fact that her saying the words, "I claim that for
me" seemed to be the trigger which released or laid hold of the power
of God in her life.
So, I thought to myself, "What should I claim for myself which I have
not been able to obtain through prayer?" The answer was clear in
my heart- the holiness of Jesus!
So I said, "I claim Your holiness, Lord Jesus, for my life, for
Father's pleasure and satisfaction."
It has now been about four months since that day, and I have had a
significant new freedom from the desires and distractions which used to
interfere with my goal of no longer living for me so that I can live
for God according to 2 Corinthians 5:15:
(ASV) and he died for all, that
they that live should no longer live unto themselves, but unto him who
for their sakes died and rose again.
Am I now perfect?
No, but I am a significant step closer to Jesus, and just wanted to
share that with you, dear reader, in case you share my goal of living
undistractedly for God!
